Juquitib.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 15, 1988.

The cross symbolises the first chapel erected in the area. The hearts are the symbol of the donation of lands as a gesture of love, by Manoel Jesuino Godinho and his wife. The wavy bars symbolise the Juquiá and São Lourenço rivers. The fleur-de-lis are the symbol of St. Mary, the local patron saint.

The shield is flanked by palmetto branches, the tree responsible for the growth of the city.
