JUDENDORF-STRASSENGEL

State : Steiermark
District : Graz-Umgebung
Incorporated into : 2015 Gratwein-Straßengel

Wappen von Judendorf-Straßengel

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 1st, 1963.

The arms are canting: The Straße (road) and the Engel (angel), according to popular opinion the sources of the name of Straßengel, are represented. Straßengel is a place of pilgrimage, too (Church of Our Lady).

Philologically however, the name of Straßengel derives from the Slavic word "straza", meaning lookout or vantage point.
