Origin/meaning

The arms show a ship's-hook, most likely as a symbol for the sailing and fishing on the Rhine, which has been of importance to the village. The hook first appears in the seals of the 19^th century, but not in a shield. The arms were officially approved in June 1901 in arbitrarily colours.
