Wappen von Hollenegg (Steiermark)/Arms (crest) of Hollenegg (Steiermark)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 9, 1979.

Hollenegg boasts a beautiful castle, possessing two towers of unmistakable design, dating from the 16th century, when the castle was brought up to Renaissance standards. One of these has been put in the shield.

The other charge, the so-called Dalkenpfanne, is part of the historic arms of the Hollenegg family. Dalkenpfanne means "frying pan", literally, Dalken being a traditional sort of baker's ware, fried in hot fat. Originally it is supposed to have been a blossom of Holunder or Holler (local dialect), meaning elder; an attempt to explain the name of the castle.
