Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 4, 1992.

The cross in the upper right corner is derived from the arms of the Echternach Abbey, which ruled the area for many centuries.
The hazelnuts are a canting element (Hasel). The two nuts symbolise the two former estates in the area. The background colours are derived from the arms of Vianden, as the whole area belonged to the County of Vianden.

Literature : Wappenbuch der Verbandsgemeinde Bitburg-Land 1995.
