German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

HERINGEN (WERRA)

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Hersfeld-Rotenburg (until 1973 Hersfeld)

Wappen von Heringen (Werra)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1993 and show the canting herrings from the old arms (see below), a wavy bend for the Werra and mining tools for the historical potassium mining in the region.

The previous arms were granted in 1933 and are based on the arms of the medieval Lords of Heringen, known to rule the town in the 15th century. The arms show three canting herrings.
