HAMMENSTEDT

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Northeim
Incorporated into : 1974 Northeim

Hammenst.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on September 17, 1962.

The wavy bend symbolises the Mühlbach river in the municipality. The wheatear and beech branch symbolise the agricultural character and the beech forests in the area.

The idea to adopt arms for the municipality started in 1956, and many different proposals were received, In May 1962 the council finally adopted the above design.
