Official blazon

Im Schildfuß ein geteiltes Wappen. Die obere Hälfte ist in Blau und Gold geschachtet. In der unteren Hälfte in Grün zwei gekreuzte silberne Hacken. Über diesem Schild vor blauem Himmel die silberne Ganz-Figur des heiligen Michael als Drachentöter.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1953.

The arms show the local patron saint, St. Michael. The small shield is a combination of a canting element (Hacke), and the checquered shield of the Counts of Sponheim, to which the village histroically belonged.

A proposal shown in 1956 showed only the hooks and the Sponheim arms:
