GROSSEN-LINDEN

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Giessen
Incorporated into : 1977 Linden (Hessen)

Grossenli.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were designed in the early 20th century and officially granted in 1955.

The arms show a canting linden tree (the name means large-linden). A linden tree or branch already appeared in the 17th and 18th century seals of the town. The tree was also used as arms, bit the colours differed widely during the centuries.

Literature : Hessisches Ortswappenbuch, 1956.
