GMÜND IN KÄRNTEN

State : Kärnten
District : Spittal an der Drau

Wappen von Gmünd in Kärnten

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 21, 1968.

The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1295. The seal shows the typical two gates (Ober- and Untertor) and the city wall in between. Even though the shape of the castle has changed during the years, the basic composition remained the same.
