Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 10, 1937.

The wheel symbolises the industry in the town, which has grown rapidly in the early 20^th century. The wavy bar in the base of the shield symbolises the Lech river that runs through the municipality.
Gersthofen was a longtime possession of the city ofAugsburg, and the colours silver and red are those of the city.
