Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1953 and show in the upper part the symbol for the local agriculture and in the lower part a spindle for the textile industries that were very important in the development of the town. The base of the shield symbolises the Regnitz river. The colours are taken from the arms of the State of Bamberg, as the area belonged until 1802 to the Bishops of Bamberg.
