The coat of arms is that of his family (double-creneted scorched pile in the green field), combined with the ancient coat of arms of [[Reggio Emilia]] (red cross in the silver field) and of Santa Romana Chiesa, and that of Torricella ("small tower"), from name of the homonymous castle of Ventoso di Scandiano belonging to the Cugini family.
