Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 14, 1996.

The hammer represents the long and almost extinct profession named "Calceteiros", people who made sidewalks with little rocks (5x5cm average).

The bag represents another profession named "Lavadeiras", where women that in the old days, took care of your laundry. They went from house to house, picking up the laundry, and wash it in the river the old fashion way; against the river rocks.

The tree represents the nature in this village, close to Lisbon, but yet with it's nature pretty much intact.
