Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 15, 1974.

These rather unheraldic arms show the Erft river and as a whole the initial of the city. The green colour also symbolises that there is a lot of green in the several towns and villages which form Erftstadt. The yellow squares represent (also) the lots of fields of wheat that is grown all around the municipality.
