EISERFELD

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Siegen-Wittgenstein (until 1975 Siegen)
Additions: 1966 Amt Eiserfeld, Eisern, Gosenbach, Niederschelden, Oberschelden
Incorporated into: 1975 Siegen

Wappen von Eiserfeld/Arms (crest) of Eiserfeld
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms of Eiserfeld were granted in 1970 and are identical to the arms of Amt Eiserfeld.

The gate is the entrance to an iron mine (the Reinhard Forster Erbstollen mine), the mining of iron has been of great importance to the area for many centuries. The arrow in the chief of the old arms is the symbol for iron.

The lion in the upper part of the new arms is the lion of Nassau, as the area belonged to the County Nassau-Siegen.

Previously Eiserfeld used the arms shown below, granted on June 5, 1939. The arms showed already the entrance to the mine, and in the upper part the old symbol for iron.
