Parti : au 1er d’azur à la mitre d’argent accompagnée de trois fleurs de lis d’or, au 2e de gueules à la perdrix couronnée et contournée d’or.
Origin/meaning
The arms combine the arms of the two different regions which form the present département;
The Saintonge (southern part), French since 1365 and the grouse of Aunis (northern part), French since 1271, but English during the hundred years war.
