French	D’azur à trois martinets d’argent; au chef cousu de gueules chargé de trois coquilles d’or. Origin/meaning These are the arms of Charles Martin, brother of King Louis XI and Lord of Bretenière until his death in 1527. The three birds are Common swifts (martinet in France) and thus a canting element. The chief shows three scallops, symbol of St. James and refer to the pilgimage of Charles Martin to Santiago de Compostela.
