Origin/meaning

Brühl received city rights in 1285 by the Bishop of Köln. The oldest seal dates from the early 14th century and show the arms of the State of Köln, with St. Peter, holding two keys and a bible as supporter. The heads were added in 1605 and stand for the 7 members of the local council.
