Wappen von Bonndorf im Schwarzwald/Arms (crest) of Bonndorf im Schwarzwald
Official blazon
German In Blau ein silberner Löwe.
English Azure, a lion rampant Argent.

Origin/meaning

Bonndorf had already its own seal at the end of the 13th century. The seal showed a lion, which is most likely the lion of the Zähringen dynasty. Later seals show since the 16th century one or up to three bean-plants (Bohne=bean) as a canting arms, sometimes planted in a small hill. When Bonndorf became a city in 1891, the old lion was restored. As the colours were not known it was chosen to use the colours of the Lords of Krenkingen, who ruled the time in the Middle Ages.
