Origin/meaning

Beverstedt, or Beaver city, does not have very old arms. The present arms are known from a late 18th century seal and show the canting beaver. The lower part symbolises the Lune stream. The marshy area around the Lune was an ideal area for beavers (now they are extinct in the area). The colours were not determined until 1950.
