BERENBOSTEL

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Region Hannover (1975-2001 Hannover, until 1975 Neustadt am Rübenberge)
Incorporated into: 1974 Garbsen

Wappen von Berenbostel/Arms (crest) of Berenbostel
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1963.

The lion is derived from the arms of the Counts of Roden, who in medieval times ruled most of the area. The hammer and the bricks indicate the main industries that were important in the development of the town, the manufacture of (small) iron tools, and of bricks and tiles.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
