BERDORF

Armoiries de Berdorf
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1989.

The village belonged for the largest part to the abbey of Echternach. The arms of the abbey were a double eagle with on its chest a lily-cross. The cross in the arms is taken from the arms of the abbey. The division is based on the arms of the old lords of Wiltz. The two T-crosses are the symbol of St. Anthony, the patron saint of the village. The lower part of the arms show a canting bridge (pont) for the village Bolledorf-Pont on the Sure-river.
