Origin/meaning

The arms show in the lower half the arms of the two entities to which the area historically belonged: the Charterhouse of Vallon and the Benedictine priory of Bellevaux. The chief symbolizse the two sides of the valley as well as the two communities of Vallon and Bellevaux.
