Über blauem Schildfuß, darin eine von zwei silbernen Wellenleisten beseitete goldene Holzbadewanne, gespalten von Gold und Silber; vorne am Spalt ein halber, rot bewehrter schwarzer Adler, hinten eine bewurzelte, siebenblättrige rote Buche.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 6, 1966.

The area of the municipality was for a long time a possession of the Benedictine Monastery Ettal and the Rottenbuch Abbey. The upper part of the arms symbolises this fact. The eagle is derived from the Ettal arms, and is the imperial eagle. The abbey was founded by Emperor Ludwig of Bayern in 1332. The red beech is canting for the Rottenbuch Abbey (Red = Rot, beech =Buche), and has been used by the Abbey since the 15^th century.

The base of the arms shows a bath, a canting element for the name (Bad = bath = spa/resort).
