Official blazon

(de) In Rot auf grünem Dreiberg stehend ein linksgewendeter, flugbereiter goldener Adler, dem ein aufrechter silberner Bischofsstab hinterlegt ist.

Origin/meaning

The arms show the canting eagle (Adler or Aar) and mountain (Berg) in front of a crosier. The crosier symbolises the fact that the area was ruled by the Abbey of Eichstätt since 1319. All seals and arms since the end of the 15^th century show the same composition. The older seal only showed an eagle.
