Origin/meaning

The candle is the Easter Candle and symbolises the Light of the World. It is a traditional Christian symbol, flanked by two local Sumatran lamps tor the evangelisation of the local people. The waves refer to the Lake Toba and the seas surrounding the archdiocese. The year 1955 on the candle indicates the year he became a bishop.
