ANTHONY JOSEPH SCHULER
Born : September 20, 1869
Deceased : June 3, 1944
Bishop of El Paso, 1915-1942
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The Bible refers to his family name, Schuler, meaning student or scholar in German. Also the motto, meaning 'Christ the one teacher' refers to this. The lamp of faith illuminates the knowledge of the Bible. The chief shows the symbol of the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), to which he belonged.
The other half shows the Holy Cross Mountain.
