Origin/meaning

The arms are a combination of the blue bars taken from the arms of the Lords of Amern, known since 1267, and the lion of Jülich, as the area historically belonged to the Counts of Jülich.

Literature : Nagel, R. : Rheinisches Wappenbuch, Köln, 1986.
