ALTENKESSEL

State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Regionalverband Saarbrücken
Incorporated into: 1974 Saarbrücken

Altenkessel.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on July 15, 1952.

The arms of Altenkessel show in the upper half two mining tools and a miner's hammer, symbolising the importance of mining for the village. The silver cross is taken from the arms of the city or Püttlingen, to which the municipality belonged until its creation. The anchor is a symbol for shipping on the Saar river and the village of Rockershausen in the municipality.
