Origin/meaning

These arms were adopted in 2014.

The key and crosier refer to the patron saints of the two villages in the municipality: St. Peter (key) for Allondrelle and St Nicholas for La Malmaison (crosier). The two villages were owned by the Abbey of Orval, which bore a three-diamond ring emerging from a stream as its coat of arms. This is symbolised in the lower half of the arms.

The red bend in gold is the arms of Lorraine and the inescutcheon refers to the County of Chiny, to which the area historically belonged.

Other arms have been mentioned in the Roll of Arms of Lorraine:

Blason de Allondrelle-la-Malmaison
  • (fr) Parti: au 1er d'or à la clef de gueules, au 2e de gueules à trois besants d'or rangés en pal; le tout surmonté d'un chef ondé d'azur chargé d'une bague d'or à trois diamants au naturel issant de la partition.

The symbolism is similar key for St. Peter, balls (bezants) for St. Nicholas and the ring for the Abbey of Orval.

These arms have not been used by the municipality.
