Affligem.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 9, 1990.

The arms were newly created as the three former municipalities dod not have arms. The arms are based on the two seals of the village of Affligem from 1434 and 1554. The fleur-de-lis and roses are the symbols of St. Mary, the key of St. Peter, the patron saints of the Affligem Abbey. The colours are derived from the arms of the Abbey, which shoed in red two crossed silver keys and a sword.
