Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 5, 1930 and confirmed in 1948.

The key is derived from the arms of the Diocese of Bremen, as the Bishops of Bremen ruled the area until 1648 when it became a Swedish possession.

The bear claw is taken from the arms of the Von Clüver family, who from the 15th century until 1648 acted as governors (Gogräfen) and judges in Achim.
