Origin/meaning

Raised in 1958 as 31st Fighter-Bomber Wing. On 20 April 1961 given the honourary name "Boelcke" in memory of the World War I Fighter Ace Oswald Boelcke (1891-1916) "The Father of Air Fighting Tactics".
