Shield: Gules, on a fess abased dancetté to chief and wavy to base paly of six Or and Sable a bend counterchanged, in chief a bayonet and a pick, handle to chief saltirewise Argent.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Maryland Army National Guard: On a wreath of the colors (Or and Gules) a cross bottony per cross quarterly Gules and Argent.
Motto: PRAEVIUS (Going Before).
Origin/meaning
The dancetté and wavy partition lines of the fess are symbolic of the mountainous and shore areas of Maryland, in which places most of the companies of the battalion are located. The design on the fess is taken from the Seal of Maryland. The bayonet and pick represent Engineers. The Crest is that for Regiments and Separate Battalions of the Maryland Army National Guard.
The arms were approved on 8 June 1954.
