Origin/meaning

The chief is taken from the arms of François de Werquihnœul, lord of the village in the 16th century. In the 18th century the village had become a possession of the de Tournai d'Assignies d'Oisy, whose arms with the three demi-lions is shown in the lower half of the shield.
