OBERSCHLIERBACH

State : Oberösterreich
District : Kirchdorf an der Krems

Oberschl.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on May 7, 1990.

The main charge in the arms is a historical charcoal oven, as historically the production of charcoal was of great importance for the local economy. The importance declined during the 19th century. The rainbow symbolises the fact that rainbows are very common in the area. At the same time the rainbow symbolises the importance of recreation and tourism in the region.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
