The arms were granted on October 6, 1936 and slightly changed on September 3, 1976.
The arms are canting, showing the flames of the holy spirit and pine trees (pinhal).
The shield is flanked by coffee, the main crop in the region.
The motto means 'I am faithful to my origins'.
