Origin/meaning

The oldest known seal of the village dates from the early 19^th century and shows the old village sign, a horseshoe. The village thus applied for arms in 1900 with the horseshoe. The State Archives, however, proposed the arms above, as there were already many villages with a horseshoe in their arms. The cross in the arms symbolises the local church, which is devoted to the Holy Cross. The local council approved of the new arms on January 2, 1901.
