Official blazon

I sølv to buede blå flanker.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 8, 1983.

The arms symbolise the waterfall Trongfoss in the Nidelva river. The river has been of great importance for the local development, for agriculture and hydro-electricity generation, hence the use of the waterfall as a typical symbol for the municipality.
