Official blazon

Gespalten; vorn in Silber schräg gekreuzt ein schwarzer Schlägel und ein schwarzes Eisen; hinten in Blau ein abgerissener, gold bewehrter roter Greifenkopf.

Origin/meaning

The arms date from the early 20th century and combine some miner's tools, symbol for the local mining activities, with a griffin's head, derived from the arms of the Counts of Pommern. Historically the city belonged to Pommern. Mining has been of great importance for the local development.
