Origin/meaning

The Hero of Homer's Odessey and King of Ithaca. He was captured, and later escabed from, Cyclops by first blinded him with a flaming stake and then hidding by strapping himself to the belly of a ram. In the ensuring cofusion Ulysses managed to flee. The Badge was approved in 1944.
