D'azur à la mer d'argent chargée de 2 îles au naturel, à la fleur d'iris d'argent tigée de sinople mouvant de la pointe de l'écu et bronchant, enlacée d'une hydre de gueules, sénestrée d'un coeur de gueules percé de 7 glaives d'argent emmanchés de sable, plongeant dans la mer; au chef d'azur chargé des conformités de saint François. Motto: In prudentia et charitate.

Origin/meaning

The two islands represent the Seychelles. The water lily (hydre) is a canting element. The heart with the seven swords is a symbol for Our Lady of Sorrows, the patron saint of the Savoie region in France, where the bishop was born. The chief shows the arms of the Franciscan Order.
