Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 25, 1993.

The two axes are taken from the arms of the Lords von Bila (Beil is ax, so the arms are canting), who had large possessions in the area from the 15th until the 20th century.

The tree trunk and the axes also refer to the second part of the name (-rode, from Roden, or clearing forest) as canting elements.
