Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 25, 1967.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1449. The seal showed in the upper half an arrow, symbol of St. Sebastian, patron saint of the village. The lower half showed a demi-escarbuncle, the symbol of the Duchy of Kleve, to which the village belonged. The above arms are nearly identical to the composition on the seal.
