State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Sankt Wendel

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1953 and show in the lower part the castle Schaumburg, which was a fortress built by the Dukes of Lorraine.

The original arms show a bear on the castle. The cross is the cross of the State of Trier, to which the local parish belonged. The abbott's staff represents the Benedictian Abbey of Tholey, which existed until 1793 and which was rebuilt in 1949.
