Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 7, 2019.

The four wheat ears refer to the agricultural character of the area and the four villages in the municipality; Gunneby, Kius, Hestoft and Ulsnis. The crosier is the symbol for St. Willehad, patron saint of the 12th century church in Ulsnis.

The division line and the sailing boat refer to the Schlei river and the shippig and tourism on the river. The blue and gold are the colours of the Schleswig-Flensburg district.
