Origin/meaning
Grant County was formed in 1909 and was named for U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant.
The water represents irrigation, lakes and the Grand Coulee Dam. The Roman figure in the background signifies the power that the Dam supplies the county, state and beyond.
The cornucopia represents agriculture — Grant County is the No. 1 producer of potatoes in the nation. The red and white emblem on the right represents government.
The phrase “Terra de Sol et Agua” means “Land of Sun and Water.
