Origin/meaning

The bishop used two arms. The first arms simply show a cross as a general symbol for Christianity, and the wolf of the Diocese of Passau.

In 1977 he changed his arms. The first half now shows two hooks, taken from the arms of Rinchnach, where he was born. The wolf of the diocese remained. The base now shows the cross.
