Arms of Sędziejowice

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on 28 December 2012.

The three fleur-de-lys are taken from the arms of the Diocese of Gniezno, to which the villages of Marzenina, Sędziejowice, Kamostek and Żaglin historically belonged. The crossed scythes refer to the attle that took place here in 1863, in which the scythemen played an important role.

The serpent comes from the coat of arms of the Wężyk family. The village Wola Wężykowa in the municipality was the birthplace of Bishop Jan Wężyk , one of the most important bishops in Poland in the 17th century.

The arms replaced a logo, adopted in 1991 showing a farmer under a tree.
